In order to escape her abusive husband, a cash-strapped mother, Chen Wei (Ivy Yin), moves into the notoriously haunted and dilapidated Butterfly House with her young daughter. They are soon plagued by a series of disturbing supernatural occurrences and bizarre accidents as the annual Ghost Gates open, unleashing vengeful spirits searching for sacrificial scapegoats, with Chen Wei realizing to her horror that her daughter has become their prime target. As she tries to navigate the eerie apartment complex, she finds herself entangled with a cast of suspicious, eccentric neighbors and a seemingly warm-hearted relief caretaker, Xiao Liang (Tsao Yu-ning), who harbors dark, terrifying secrets of his own, plunging the vulnerable mother and daughter into a waking nightmare far more sinister than the domestic abuse they fled.
